Fml-s
Fml-s treats eye inflammation and bacterial eye infections. Do not touch the tip of the Fml-s bottle to your eye during administration.
Fml-s Overview
Fml-s is a prescription medication used to treat eye inflammation and bacterial infections of the eye.
It is a combination product containing two medications: sulfacetamide and fluorometholone. Sulfacetamide belongs to a class of medications called sulfonamide antibacterials. These drugs work by preventing bacteria from making certain chemicals they need in order to survive. Fluorometholone belongs to a class of medications called corticosteroids, which reduce inflammation by preventing the body from making chemicals that are involved in inflammation.
This medication comes in eyedrop suspension form and is typically administered four times daily.
Common side effects of Fml-s include allergic reactions, increased eye blood pressure, and delayed wound healing.

Fml-s and Pregnancy
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
The FDA categorizes medications based on safety for use during pregnancy. Five categories - A, B, C, D, and X, are used to classify the possible risks to an unborn baby when a medication is taken during pregnancy.
Fml-s falls into category C. No studies have been done in animals, and no well-controlled studies have been done in pregnant women. Fml-s should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.
Fml-s and Lactation
It is not known if Fml-s crosses into human milk. Because many medications can cross into human milk and because of the possibility for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants with use of this medication, a choice should be made whether to stop nursing or stop the use of this medication. Your doctor and you will decide if the benefits outweigh the risk of using Fml-s.
