Neostigmine methylsulfate is a prescription medication used to reverse the effects of nerve blocking drugs that are used during surgery. Neostigmine methylsulfate belongs to a group of drugs called cholinesterase inhibitors which help to increase a natural chemical in your body that stimulates muscle movement.

This medication is available in an injectable form to be given directly into a vein (IV) by a healthcare professional.

Common side effects include a slower heart beat, nausea, and vomiting.
